Mobile Windshield Replacement, or a Heated Shop When It's Cold
Our two vans cover driveways and work lots whenever the glass is dry and it's about 20°F or warmer. Colder than that, or blowing hard? The car comes into our heated install room instead, same price. We think a windshield set in a January wind is the one that leaks in April, and we've seen enough of those to stop arguing about it.
ADAS Camera Calibration Done In-House
Lane assist, automatic braking and adaptive cruise all lean on a camera behind the windshield, and new glass knocks its aim off a hair. We calibrate in our own shop with target boards and a scan tool, then hand you the printout. According to AAA, that step alone averages about $360, so ask any shop whether it's in the quote.
Insurance Claims Set Up on One Call
Good news: most comprehensive policies pay for chip repair in full. For a replacement, we call your insurer with you on the line, read them the part number and have the claim open in about ten minutes. You owe your deductible. You also get to pick the shop, whatever the 800 number suggests.
Free Chip Repair for 6 Months After a New Windshield
Gravel trucks run all summer on I-90 and I-29, and they don't care that your glass is a week old. So if a windshield we put in takes a chip in its first 6 months, we fill it free. Tight budget? We keep blemished windshields, brand-new glass with a tiny cosmetic mark, at $145 plus tax installed when one fits.
About Us
Sioux Falls Master Windshield does windshield replacement and repair for cars, pickups, RVs and semis, plus the back glass and door windows nobody thinks about until a rock or a crowbar finds them. Honestly, a big share of our calls end with a chip repair instead of a sale. We've fixed chips in 20 minutes that other shops quoted as a full windshield.
Four installers. One heated shop on the west side. Two vans. That's the whole outfit, and we like it that way, because the person who quotes your glass usually sets it too. Every frame gets cleaned and a coat of primer on any bare metal so rust can't creep under the glue. Most windshields take us about an hour, and the price is confirmed from your VIN before a single part gets ordered.
We're stubborn about one thing: keys stay on our hook until the urethane glue passes its safe drive-away time. On a July afternoon that's maybe 30 minutes. On a January morning at 5°F it's longer, and we'd rather you wait with a coffee than drive off on glass that hasn't set.
How Much Does Windshield Replacement Cost in Sioux Falls?
Windshield replacement in Sioux Falls usually costs $280 to $550 for a car without a camera and $650 to $1,400 when the windshield has a camera that needs calibration. A rock chip repair runs about $60 to $120. With comprehensive insurance, many drivers pay only their deductible, and chip repair is often free.
Auto Glass Replacement & Repair Services in Sioux Falls
Windshields get the headlines, but every week our calendar fills with back glass, door windows, leaks and regulators too. Last summer we counted more chip repairs than any other job, by a mile.
01
Windshield Replacement
New laminated glass, a fresh bead of urethane and a frame we've cleaned down to a good surface. Rain sensor, heated wiper park, heads-up display, acoustic layer: your VIN tells us which version you need, so the glass that shows up actually fits. The AS1 marking in the corner is your proof it is legal windshield glass.
02
Rock Chip Repair
A chip smaller than a quarter can usually be filled with clear resin and cured with a UV lamp in about 20 minutes. It stops the spread and most insurers pay for it in full. See windshield chip repair.
03
Windshield Crack Repair
Under about 6 inches and nowhere near the edge? Resin can often stop it. Once a crack reaches the edge, runs long, or sits right where the driver looks, it's a new windshield, and we'll point at exactly why before you spend a dime.
04
Rear Windshield Replacement
Back glass is tempered, so it doesn't crack, it explodes into a few thousand pebbles. We vacuum the seats and the trunk channel, set the new glass and hook the defroster lines back up, then test them before you leave.
05
Side Window Replacement
Door glass and the small quarter windows behind them, broken by a break-in, a door slam or a stray rock. Most door glass is in stock locally and goes in the same day. See car window replacement.
06
Power Window Repair
Window won't go up, or drops into the door? It's usually the regulator, the motor and track inside the door, or a switch. We find which one and replace just that part, with a 1-year warranty on new parts.
07
Windshield Leak Repair
Wet carpet after a car wash, or a whistle at 70 on the interstate? Usually a skip in the old glue bead or a molding that gave up. A water test finds the spot. Then we reseal it, or pull and reset the glass when the first install was the problem.
08
Truck Windshield Replacement
Half-tons and three-quarter-tons eat rocks on gravel section-line roads. We keep glass for the common pickups on hand and set it at the farm, the job site or our shop, whichever keeps you working.
09
Sunroof Glass Replacement
Sunroof and panoramic roof panels shatter from hail, temperature swings or a stress point in the frame. We order the panel by VIN, swap it and check the seal so the headliner stays dry.
A gravel truck on I-29 put a star chip right in front of me. They fixed it in my work parking lot on my lunch break and insurance paid the whole thing. You honestly can't see where it was.
Megan T.Southwest Sioux Falls
Windshield + ADAS calibration
New windshield on our Highlander, and they did the camera calibration right after. Lane assist works like it did from the factory. They called my insurance with me on the line, so it took ten minutes.
Brian H.Brandon
Back glass replacement
Somebody broke my back window over the weekend. Called Monday morning, it was in by Monday afternoon and they vacuumed every last bit of glass out of the seats.
Alyssa R.Tea
Windshield replacement
It was 6 degrees, so they told me to bring the truck to the shop instead of doing it in my driveway. Glad they did. No leaks, no wind noise, fair price.

Hartford
Job
Three chips filled with resin, no replacement needed
Cost
$0 (covered by the insurer)

Three chips, all smaller than a quarter and well away from the edges. That's a repair job, not a windshield, so we filled all three in the driveway and the insurer paid it in full.
A word from the owner
Fix It If You Can, Replace It If You Must
“I started out sweeping a glass shop floor after high school, and the first thing I learned was that a good tech talks you out of work you don't need. Half our calls end with a twenty-minute chip repair, and I'm fine with that.”
Nate
Owner, Sioux Falls Master Windshield
Nate has set glass around Sioux Falls for about 14 years and still picks up the phone most mornings. Our crew of 4 does every install in-house, no subcontractors. Text him your VIN, what hit the glass and where the car sits, and you'll get a price and a 2-hour window back.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does windshield replacement take?
About an hour to set the glass, then the urethane needs its safe drive-away time before you leave, usually 30 to 60 minutes and longer on a cold morning. Add calibration if your car has a windshield camera, and plan on two to three hours start to finish. We'll give you the real number when you book.
Can a cracked windshield be repaired?
Often, yes. Chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than about 6 inches can usually be filled with resin, as long as they don't reach the edge or sit right in the driver's line of sight. Longer cracks and edge cracks spread, so those need a new windshield.
Does insurance cover windshield replacement in South Dakota?
If you carry comprehensive coverage, yes: glass damage from rocks, hail and vandals falls under it, minus your deductible. Many insurers waive the deductible for chip repair. South Dakota doesn't require a separate glass rider, so check whether your policy has full glass coverage before you pay out of pocket.
Do you do mobile windshield replacement?
Yes. Two of our vans work driveways, farm yards and parking lots in Sioux Falls and the towns around it. The urethane needs dry glass and roughly 20°F or warmer to cure right, so on colder or windy days we move the job into our heated shop. The price stays the same either way.
Is it legal to drive with a cracked windshield in South Dakota?
South Dakota law bars glass that is cracked or broken badly enough to significantly impair the driver's view, so a crack in front of the driver can earn a ticket. A small chip off to the side usually won't, but it can spread with the first cold morning, so fix it early.
Do I need ADAS calibration after a new windshield?
If your car has a camera at the top of the windshield for lane assist, automatic braking or adaptive cruise, yes. The new glass shifts the camera's view by a fraction of a degree, which is enough to misread the lane. We calibrate in-house and give you the printed report.
OEM or aftermarket windshield: which is better?
OEM glass comes from the carmaker's own supplier and carries the car's logo. OEE glass is built to the same federal safety standard by another maker, usually for less. Both work when the fit is right. Some cameras and heads-up displays calibrate better on OEM glass, and we'll tell you when that applies.
How long should I wait to wash my car after a new windshield?
Skip the car wash for a day or two, and skip touchless washes with high-pressure jets for 48 hours. Leave the blue tape on the edges for a day. Don't slam doors the first afternoon, and crack a window about half an inch if the car sits in hot sun, so pressure doesn't push on fresh glue.
Which towns do you serve?
Sioux Falls and about 25 miles around it: Brandon, Tea, Harrisburg, Hartford, Renner, Crooks, Baltic, Lennox, Canton and Dell Rapids. Mobile visits in those towns cost the same as the shop. If you're farther out, call and we'll see what the calendar allows.
Free Chip Repair for 6 Months
Get a new windshield from us and take a rock chip in the next six months? Bring it in or have a van stop by and we fix it free. Gravel trucks on I-90 don't care that your glass is a week old, so we figured we'd cover it.
